Brandy as never seen before.

1866 is the result of distilling carefully selected wines in copper stills.

These wines are subsequently aged in sherry casks that reach an average age of 25 years. These casks once held Osborne fino wines and were chosen for this process by our Master Blender.

One of the main hallmarks and distinguishing qualities of 1866 is its signature, masterful use of the criaderas and solera system , consisting of 16 scales of sherry casks. This is an unprecedented number and is possibly the greatest number of scales used in the world of brandies and spirits. In addition, aging the brandy an average of 12 years gives it an unmistakable, richly aromatic taste.

The origins of brandy date back to the 7th century

Andalusia lives at the core of this brandy. This brandy that was born out of the enterprising spirit of a French winemaking expert, Prósper Lamothe, who, drunk off the aroma and the sublime light of Andalusia, acquired a winemaking business in Málaga. Fernando Jiménez later joined the wineries, and they created the company Jiménez y Lamothe, the original producer of this legendary brandy, whose foundational solera dates back to around 1866. Since that time, the brandy that has won over the most demanding palates thanks to its exceptional taste and smoothness.

In our role in the preservation of the heritage and wealth of wines and brandies, we at Osborne have of been able to conserve and maintain the essence of this brandy intact under the Brandy de Jerez designation, preserving the original old casks and protecting the unique production system of 16 scales of criaderas y solera, an unprecedented number in the world of spirits.
